Choosing the right people to assist with your make-up, hair and beauty requirements for your special day or event is a very important decision. 

FAQThere are so many factors to consider and so many questions to ask. Over many years of experience and research, we have compiled a list of commonly asked questions and concerns that have repeatedly been brought up by clients. However should they not address your queries, please contact our office, who are more than happy to assist you at any time.

Are your team qualified professionals?

We pride ourselves on employing only the most qualified, experienced team of professionals that not only excel at their skills, however also provide a great attitude and friendly, fun personality.  All The Touch Up Team staff are qualified in their specified field of expertise.

Do you come to me on the day?

Most of our services are completely mobile.  So, we come to you wherever you are on the day – home, hotel, etc.  We offer services to all local Gold Coast for no additional travel fees.  The Touch Up Team do travel to areas outside of local Gold Coast (including Tamborine, Springbrook, Brisbane, Northern New South Wales and Sunshine Coast), however additional travel fees do apply.  Please contact our office for details.

How many artists/therapists do I get come to me on the day?

It really does depend on the size of the booking.  We do not like for our ladies to have to wait around for hours on end - there's nothing worse!  Hence, once we have the final numbers confirmed with you for your booking, we will ensure that adequate staff are supplied so that you can enjoy the day with minimal fuss and down time!

Will my make-up last?

The Touch Up Team use only professional, quality products to ensure the longevity and staying power of your make-up for your special day.  We use internationally recognised professional-standard products designed for use under hot, studio lights, tear-proof and sweat-proof so you can be rest assured your make-up won’t melt away!  The Touch Up Team also use an amazing European professional ‘Bridal Finishing Spray’ designed to hold everything in place and enhance the endurance of your make-up.  It is recommended to have a trial prior to your special day to ensure that that the make-up is suitable for your skin type (ie oily, dry etc) and to give you peace of mind that everything will be perfect on the big day!

Will my hair stay?

While it is important to understand that each person’s hair is different with a range of factors regarding length, thickness and natural curl to take into consideration, it is important to make sure that the style you have in mind for your special day is suitable for your hair type.  This is where a trial before the big day can be a great idea.  It gives the stylist a chance to see your hair and its’ condition prior to the big day, and to see which tools and products are going to be suitable and work their magic!  A trial is also a great opportunity for you to obtain some free expert information regarding tips and tricks to get your hair into the best possible condition for your special day, and make any recommendations on cuts, colours, hair accessories and wigs or hairpieces if necessary.

Do I need a hair and/or make-up trial?

Most hair and make-up artists will recommend you have a trial leading up to a special occasion wherever possible.  Whilst we at The Touch Up Team also highly recommend this, it is up to the client, and we do charge additional fees for trials.  Trials are available at a cheaper rate at our studio, or we are able to come to you for a slightly higher fee.  It is a great idea as it allows you a ‘dress rehearsal’ for the big day – hair and/or make-up would be completed as it would be on the day, meaning you have a great opportunity to ensure you are happy with the results, coverage, staying power and of course to make sure it feels comfortable and most importantly - you still feel like you!  A trial also allows you time to get to know your artist/s, discuss ideas, changes, beauty and hair care and treatments and recommendations in the lead up to the big day, allergies, skin and/or hair conditions etc.

How long does it take?

Weddings/Events:  Timing does vary from stylist to stylist and also on the requirements of the make-up and/or hairstyle.  However, an average wedding or event make-up takes approximately 40 to 45 minutes and the average wedding or event hairstyle takes between 30 minutes for a simple style/blowdry to 60 minutes for long hair or a very intricate style.  Please speak to our office or your stylist for further information and more accurate ideas on timing.

Pamper Parties:  Timing depends on the chosen package for your party and numbers.

Beauty Services/Eyelash Extensions:  Timing depends on chosen services and numbers.

Training & Workshops:  Timing depends on booking and numbers.

What products do you use?

The Touch Up Team uses only professional products and these brands vary depending on each individual stylist/therapist’s preferences and the requirements for the client.  Some of the products we endorse and use  (however are not limited to) are:

Make-up: Graftobian (used on Twillight movies for HD), MAC, Napoleon, Kevyn Aucoin, Nars, Kryolan, Stila, Laura Mercier, Ere Perez (Natural cosmetics), Melli and our very own Touch Up Team exclusive signature range of touch up products!

Hair: GHD, Keune, Sculpture, White Sands, PPS, Aveda..

Do you offer airbrushing?

Airbrushing is a specialised service different from traditional make-up application.  Airbrushing requires special equipment, tools and products and requires the artist to apply a light ‘mist’ spray to the face, gradually building up coverage and colour to achieve the desired result.  Many of our make-up artists on staff are available for airbrushing make-up services, however it is important that you MUST specify this is required, as not all staff are qualified in this area, and it is a more expensive option, so there is also a difference in price.  Airbrushing is also not suitable for all skin types, and should be avoided on very dry or very sensitive skins all together.

Do you contact me, in the lead up to the event date?

The Touch Up Team pride ourselves on our personalised services to all of our clients, with staff on hand via phone and email to assist with any queries or concerns, offer advice and assistance wherever we can.  We confirm all of your appointments, trials and bookings either by phone or email and make sure to keep in touch with our clients to ensure we have all of their booking details up-to-date.

Do you accept credit card and eftpos?

The Touch Up Team offers payment options including credit card (Mastercard & Visa), direct deposit and postal money order or cheque (*Please see our Payment Options terms and conditions for further details).  We offer Eftpos on in-studio services ONLY, NO mobile services).
